In a shambolic first year following the acquisition of Jordan, it quickly emerged that Canadian-Russian owner Alex Schnaider had bitten off more than he could chew.

Bills went unpaid. Suppliers raged. And Burberry cap-wearing team principal Colin Kolles alienated all-comers with his brand of Romanian charm.

By Monaco, Schnaider was supposedly selling out to myriad consortia, including one fronted by Eddie Irvine. The rumours came to nothing leaving Schnaider to return under his own Midland company banner.

Best of luck to Tiago Monteiro and Christijan Albers. They'll need it.
