Endured a torrid winter during which they failed to complete one race distance with the new car. David Coulthard points out that McLaren suffered similarly in 1999 and went on to win the title.
There is no chance of a repeat here, despite the inspired signing of design guru Adrian Newey. Coulthard demonstrated his value in what proved a more than satisfactory first year, but if progress is to be maintained, Christian Klien must deliver points.
