Schumacher rules U.S. Grand Prix
Michael Schumacher, the seven-time Formula One champion, became the first driver in any series to win five races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, taking his fourth straight U.S. Grand Prix Sunday on the 2.6-mile, 13-turn road course at the famed Brickyard.
The only other drivers to win as many as four at Indy are A.J. Foyt, Al Unser and Rick Mears - all in the Indianapolis 500 - and NASCAR's Jeff Gordon in the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. [more]
US Grand Prix goes all German
The US Grand Prix held in the American 'Home of Motorsport' at Indianapolis Motor Speedway was a brilliant success, in stark contrast to last year's debacle.
It was Formula 1’s seventh, and from the looks of the attendance figures, was possibly the most successful year so far. This is good news for the American fans as the contract to keep the pinnacle of motorsport at the brickyard is due for renewal this year. The fans showed they approve of the event, so let’s hope that the powers that be can make the right decision. [more]
NASCAR Drivers Visit; Points Please Trulli
NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series driver Jimmie Johnson and his wife, Chandra, flew to Indianapolis after the Pepsi 400 NASCAR race July 1 at Daytona International Speedway to attend the United States Grand Prix.
“The F1 cars are amazing,” Johnson said. “I’m a big fan of all motorsport. It’s great to have F1 here in Indianapolis, and it is nice to be here and be part of it.” [more]
